the only ask we'll ever make

Keep the
guide free.

London Free Guide costs nothing to read and we want to keep it that way. No ad walls, no affiliate junk, no paywall on the good stuff. If it has saved you money or a dull afternoon, a few quid keeps it going.

the honest bit

Most guides sell you. We don't.

The internet figured out long ago that a free guide usually means you're the product. Pop-ups, cookie banners that never end, ten affiliate links between you and the actual address. We think that ruins the thing, so we don't do it.

Instead the whole guide stays free and open, and the people who can chip in keep it free for the people who can't. That's the deal. It is the same model that keeps a good local paper or a community noticeboard alive, just for free London.

We're a tiny operation. Every supporter genuinely moves the needle.

Our promise to you

supporter or not, this never changes

No ad walls and no cookie-tracking that follows you round the web.
No affiliate junk wedged between you and the place you're trying to find.
No paywall on the spots, guides, day trips or calendar. Ever.
Always clearly labelled when something is a paid feature for a brand we rate.

Your name on the wall

A small but real thank-you. Your first name joins the supporters wall on this page, because you're the reason it's still free.

To be crystal clear: none of the core guide is locked behind this. Every spot, the A to Z, the guides, the day trips and the calendar are free and public whether you ever give us a penny.

What you never have to pay for

This is the spine of the guide and it stays open to anyone with a phone and a free afternoon. Support keeps it that way, it doesn't unlock it.

Straight back into finding free stuff

No office, no team of ten, no marketing budget. It's mostly travel, time and the boring bills that keep a website on. Here's roughly how a supporter pound splits.

Scouting trips and travel45% Oyster top-ups and train fares to go and check a spot is actually good before we tell you about it.
Time to write it properly30% The hours that go into the secrets, the guides and answering every DM.
Site, newsletter and tools20% Hosting, the email that sends the roundup, the maps. The unglamorous bits.

Questions, answered straight

Do I have to pay to read the guide?
No. Every free spot, the full A to Z, the guides, the day trips and the calendar stay free and public for everyone, forever. Supporting is just the optional way to keep it that way.
So what do I actually get for it?
Extras that sit on top of the free guide: the full supporter map, weekend picks a day early, a monthly bonus secrets drop, a printable area map and your name on the wall. None of it is core content we've held back.
Can I cancel any time?
Any time, in two taps, no email to chase and no hard feelings. A one-off is just that, nothing to cancel and nothing recurring.
Will you ever run ads or affiliate links?
No cookie-tracking ad walls and no affiliate junk. The only paid thing on the site is a clearly labelled feature for a London brand we actually rate, and supporters never see those in their feed. More on that on the Hire us page.
Can my business support instead?
That's a different thing. If you run a London spot and want to reach our readers, head to Hire us. This page is for the people who just love the guide.
I can't afford it. Am I missing out?
Not on anything that matters. The whole point is that the good stuff stays free. Share a spot with a mate or tag us in a photo, that helps just as much.

Found something free
because of us?

Pass it forward. A few quid keeps every spot, guide and day trip free for the next person hunting a good cheap day out.
