How free entry and guest lists actually work
Free entry in London almost always means a genuine £0 ticket on a normal booking platform, not a mystery door policy. The venues above all publish a real free tier on RA, Skiddle or Eventbrite, capped by capacity, so it works exactly like a paid ticket except the price is nothing. A few nights, like the Village Underground free raves, only guarantee entry if your ticket is scanned before a set cutoff time — miss it and you queue at full door price instead.
Guest-list deadlines and release timing
Free allocations are limited and go first come, first served, so the earlier you claim a ticket after it goes live the safer you are. Weekly nights, like Lightbox's VIVA Reggaeton, don't need booking at all, you just arrive before the cutoff. One-off free tickets for weekend parties tend to disappear days before the date, not hours before, so book the moment you see the link rather than waiting for the week itself.
ID and age rules
Every venue above is 18+ except Cococure Haus, which is 21+. Bring a physical passport or driving licence — a photo of your ID on your phone will not get you in. Some doors also use ID scanners rather than a visual check.
Dress code and door policy
None of these free nights run a strict dress code, but door staff still use judgement. Trainers and casual streetwear are fine everywhere on this list; heavy sportswear like tracksuits or football shirts is the one thing that can get you turned away at a few of the stricter doors. When unsure, smart-casual is the safe default.
Free before it flips to paid, so arrive early
Free before X, paid after is standard in London: Lightbox is free before 11:30pm and charges after, and both Village Underground free raves only honour the free ticket if it's scanned before the stated cutoff. Turn up any later and you'll be paying the door price like everyone else.
Getting home safely
Camden Town, Vauxhall and Stratford all sit on night tube lines (Northern, Victoria and Central/Jubilee) that run through the night on Friday and Saturday. Shoreditch High Street has no night tube and its Overground doesn't run through the night either, so from Village Underground you're relying on a night bus or a cab/rideshare home.
