Shri Sanatan Mandir, Wembley
A hand-carved Hindu temple on Ealing Road, Wembley, built from Indian stone without a steel frame. Free to visit and open daily from 7am to 7pm.

The lowdown
Wembley has two extraordinary Hindu temples and this is the one people forget, distinct from the white marble Neasden mandir a few miles away. On Ealing Road, the Shri Sanatan Hindu Mandir rises in glowing carved stone, and it is free to walk into.
It opened in 2010 and was built the traditional way, with no structural steel frame, from stone quarried in Rajasthan and carved by hand. The exterior is yellow Jaisalmer limestone, the interior pink Bansi Paharpur stone, and each of its 210 pillars depicts a scene from the Hindu scriptures.
Opening times: the temple's own timings page lists it as open daily from 7am to 7pm, with aarti at 8am and 6:30pm and rajbhog from noon to 1pm. The premises gates close at 8pm. Entry is free and donations are welcome.
Visitor rules from the temple's guidelines: no shorts and no bare shoulders, and shoes come off before you go in, with racks in the basement. No photos or filming inside or on the front steps, no food or drink inside, and please do not touch the carvings. Keep your phone off and stay quiet in the sanctum.
Nearby: the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Neasden, north-west London's other great free temple, is a short bus or car ride away. Details checked against svnuk.com on 15 October 2026.
